Morton Grove Park Police launch New Safety Program

This summer the Morton Grove Park District police officers will be reaching out to kids and sharing an important safety tip with them as they launch a new program called "Keeping Kids Safe".
Each officer will carry a different safety card that they will start distributing to kids at different parks and facilities this summer. Kids will be encouraged to meet all of our officers and collect as many cards as they can.  Any youth who collects at least 5 of the different safety cards, and completes a “Park Safety Form”, will then receive a special reward from the park district.
Park Police Coordinator Norm Stromberg had this to say: “The goal of this program is for my officers and I to interact with as many kids as possible to educate or re-educate them on the importance of safety. The kids will have fun as they learn important safety procedures while trying to collect all the cards.”
The Park Police Force is responsible for protecting the safety of all Park District patrons and properties as well as enforcing all Federal, State, County, Village and Morton Grove Park District laws and ordinances within the Park District. The Park Police want all of our park users to feel safe while enjoying their leisure time. Park Police Officers inspect the interior and exterior of each park building and regularly inspects playgrounds for vandalism and graffiti. Although they work every day throughout the year, the Police Force is more visible to the public in the warmer months when they patrol the pools, softball fields, summer concerts and many other activities both by car and on foot.
You can meet some of our park police officers at the following upcoming events in June:
Tuesday concerts in Harrer Park – June 12, 19 & 26
Summer party in the park/Ice Cream Social at Prairie View Park – Thursday, June 14
Movie at Prairie View Park , Friday, June 22
Park District Day at the Farmers Market – Saturday, June 23
Check the park district website later in the month for a listing of more upcoming events where you can meet an officer and collect another Safety Message card.
