Niles Police Department Honored for Crime Prevention

On 12/6/2012 the Niles Police Department received multiple honors from the Illinois Crime Prevention Association at its annual awards luncheon in Wheaton Illinois.

 Chief of Police Dean Strzelecki was named Chief of the Year for his continued support of crime prevention programs, efforts and initiatives in the Village of Niles.

 Officer Anthony Scipione was named Crime Prevention Officer of the Year. Officer Scipione conducts beat meetings, crime prevention presentations and is co-chairman of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. Officer Scipione maintains this outstanding performance all while working the midnight shift in the police department.

The Niles Volunteers In Police Service received the Illinois Crime Prevention Associations Organization of the Year. The Niles Volunteers In Police Service (VIPS) were recognized for their assistance, volunteerism, continued support of police operations and crime prevention programs. The Niles Volunteers In Police Service members donate several thousand hours of volunteer time annually to the Niles Police Department and the Village of Niles.

The Niles Police Department has a very strong commitment to crime prevention activities and programs in the Village of Niles and it is well represented by the recognition given to the members of the Niles Police Department.
