Come celebrate the freedom to read and the importance of the First Amendment with Morton Grove Public Library.

All this week the library will highlight Banned Books Week, which takes place from Sept. 25 to Oct. 1.

For Banned Books Week, the Morton Grove Public Library chose Harper Lee's "To Kill A Mockingbird," a recognized classic though one burdened by numerous challenges over the years since its initial publication in 1960. A majority of these challenges have come from our nation's school's where often-times well intentioned individuals have objected to the novel's racial themes and slurs

Read Like a Teen: Banned Books Edition
Wed., Sept. 28, 7 p.m.

Ever wonder what teens are reading?  Come to the first meeting of Read Like a Teen, a book club that will read young adult books, open to all ages. Parents, teens, and adults interested in YA literature are all welcome to join us. We will also have a special discussion for Banned Books Week. Before the meeting, pick up a list of reading suggestions on our display or at the Reference Desk. We hope to see you there!
