Banned Books Week Virtual Read-Out

Morton Grove Public Library presents a reading from "To Kill a Mockingbird."

Come celebrate the freedom to read and the importance of the First Amendment with Morton Grove Public Library.

All this week the library will highlight Banned Books Week, which takes place from Sept. 25 to Oct. 1.

For Banned Books Week, the Morton Grove Public Library chose Harper Lee's "To Kill A Mockingbird," a recognized classic though one burdened by numerous challenges over the years since its initial publication in 1960. A majority of these challenges have come from our nation's school's where often-times well intentioned individuals have objected to the novel's racial themes and slurs

You can find out more about Banned Books Week from the American Library Association and be sure to check out our Banned Books Week Virtual Read-Out: A reading from To Kill A Mockingbird video, starring some of your favorite staff members.
