Bites Nearby: Makisu's Top-Quality Sushi

Reviewer Bill Burman says Village Crossing spot has some of the Chicago region's best sushi offerings.

You could drive down the street looking for a place to eat, but Patch.com can offer some suggestions.  In this new weekly feature, we'll highlight a great restaurant either in town or nearby that's worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:

The modern, simple decor lets diners focus on the food, especially specialty items like the Fire Cracker ($16), a makizushi featuring spicy tuna, cream cheese, asparagus, shitake mushrooms and avocado, wrapped in a thin soybean sheet and drizzled with creamy wasabi. Quality like this can turn Makisu into a regional destination, Burman concludes.

Lunch: Mon - Fri 11:15am - 2:30pm, Dinner: Mon - Thu 5pm - 9:45pm, Fri - Sat 5pm - 10:30pm, Sun 4pm - 9pm.  Average entrees run $17-25. Lunch specials weekdays are in the $10-$12 range.
