Tuesday is the last day to register to vote in the Feb. 29 primary. That's important in Morton Grove and Niles, where Golf School District 67 residents will vote on a referendum (which would raise taxes); also, there's a Morton Grove mayor contest.
If you want to vote in the Golf School District 67 referendum election or the Morton Grove mayoral contest, the deadline to resiger to vote is Tuesday, Jan. 29.
Voters who have recently moved or changed their names must re-register in order to vote in the Feb. 26, 2013 primary election, according to Cook County Clerk David Orr. The following information is courtesy of Orr's office:
Voter registration applications for suburban Cook County residents can be found at cookcountyclerk.com.
Completed applications should be mailed or delivered to the Cook County Clerk's office, 69 W. Washington St., Fifth Floor, Chicago, IL 60602. Applications must be delivered or postmarked by Jan. 29.
Anyone wishing to register in person can visit the Clerk's office downtown, their municipal or township office, or one of the Clerk's offices located at the five suburban Cook County courthouses:
To register, applicants must have two pieces of identification, including one containing a current address. To qualify to vote, a person must be a United States citizen, at least 18 years old by Election Day (Feb. 26) and a resident of his or her precinct for at least 30 days prior to the election.
Anyone who misses tomorrow's deadline will still be able to register during the grace period from Jan. 30-Feb. 23. During the grace period, applicants may register and immediately vote only at the Clerk's downtown office.
