Heriberto Ramirez, 50, of unincorporated Des Plaines, was sentenced to 45 years in prison for murdering his wife on Valentine’s Day, 2011, the Daily Herald reported.
Opening statements in the murder trial were made in November, and, in February 2011, bond was set at $10 million for Ramirez.
When Ramirez was arrested in 2011, Cook County Sheriff’s Police patrol officers had responded to his residence at approximately 5:30 a.m. on Feb. 14, due to a 9-1-1 phone call made by his daughter, who was 9 years old at the time, in which she stated, according to law enforcement, her father was “hitting” her mother.
When police arrived they found Alicia Ramirez, at the time 45 years old, in the bathroom with extensive injuries, the Daily Herald reported.
