Candidates Start Filing Early
Monday began the first day for candidates to file for office, and at least eight stepped up to turn in their paperwork.
In Niles, two full slates of candidates filed their petitions Monday, and at least two candidates filed in Maine Townships High School District 207.

The New Niles 2013 Party and the Responsible Leadership party, each with a candidate for mayor and three trustee candidates, filed their petitions Monday in Niles.
In District 207, incumbent board member Eric Leys filed, along with Mary Childers, a former Des Plaines 1st Ward City Alderman who serves on the Park Ridge-based Center of Concern Advisory Board.
Leys is a past District 207 Board President and currently chairs the Board Finance Committee.

Nice to see some contested elections...choice, new ideas, innovation, fresh perspective...if we want it in the grocery store, we should expect it in our politics too.
