Leys Drops out 7th Ward Race; Seeks Re-Election to D-207

D-207 Board of Education member Eric Leys filed documents to withdraw from the race to represent Des Plaines' Seventh Ward, Leys announced Wednesday.

There will be two candidates to represent the Seventh Ward in Des Plaines, not three, as one is set to withdraw. Maine Township High School District 207 Board of Education member Eric Leys announced he withdrew from the race for Seventh Ward Alderman in Des Plaines in a statement on Jan. 2.

Leys stated he withdrew in order to focus more on his re-election campaign to D-207, and endorsed another candidate for the Seventh Ward, John Malloy, who holds many similar positions on a number of issues, Leys stated.

Joanna Sojka will face Malloy in the Consolidated Election in April for the Seventh Ward seat.

Seventh Ward Alderman Dan Wilson stated he intends to retire from city council following his current term.

Below is a list of all the candidates for Des Plaines government in 2013.
