1. Why are you running for this office? I believe that I am qualified to hold the position of trustee in our Village. I will bring business and Senior expertise to the board.

2. What are the top issues facing the village of Niles right now, in your view? We need to become more business friendly again. We also need to lower our property taxes through this as well as implement new measures to protect our seniors and restore diminishing services.

3. How should the village be addressing these issues? There needs to be restored peace, less in fighting and compromise amongst the board.

4. What ideas do you have to improve the village, whether in services, economic development, transportation, outreach to residents, communication, environment or other areas? We need to broaden our tax base by inviting new businesses to our village, work with existing businesses and our Chamber of Commerce. We also need to renew stronger ties with our Senior Center and meet the needs of the elderly as well as inviting the citizens of our community to give input and help with different programs and commisions.

5. What accomplishments, in public or community service or your professional life, would you like voters to know about? I was named Man of the year by our citizens in 2011. I also received the highest award, the Golden Tomahawk, by our local Scout Council for a Scoutmaster last year. I also speak out locally against teen violence and drug/ alcohol abuse. We have also been awarded many accommodations and reviews at Kappy's Restaurant.

6. Niles has a reputation as a thriving business community and it won the Best Affordable Place to Raise Kids honor from Bloomberg/Business Week. What do you envision for its future? I feel that this award was in the making over the last 2 decades , but in the last couple of years more focus has been on smaller issues instead of staying focused on how to continue and improve on this.

7. Niles is divided between two townships, two high school districts and multiple elementary school districts. It does not have a downtown or a high school. In light of this fractionalization, what can be done to give Niles a sense of unity? Start with unity on a board level and lead by example.

8. Anything else you would like to add? Yes, I would like to say thank you to the Patch for entertaining this forum, and hope that the citizens come out to vote and make a difference to help re-instill pride in our Village!
