Morton Grove Days: 'Buy A Raffle Ticket!'

The July 4-week carnival, entertainment extravaganza and fireworks is put on mostly by volunteers and donations, trustee says, urging people to buy--and help sell--raffle tix.

Trustee Bill Grear and Georgianne Brunner, a former trustee, enthusiastically took the podium to promote Morton Grove Days, the village's four-day festival encompassing the July 4th holiday, at the Morton Grove village board meeting Monday.

"The entertainment is great. Wherever you go in the North Shore, everyone tells you how great the Morton Grove Days are," said Trustee Bill Grear.

He asked for volunteers to help with blitzes of raffle ticket sales, saying St. Martha parish allowed them to sell there last week.

"It's $5 for a raffle ticket or five for $20," he said.

"The raffle is needed to fund Morton Grove Days. Other than some employees here and there, we’re running it on donations and volunteers."

Brunner outlined the hours for the event, which will take place on Saturday June 30, Sunday July 1, Tuesday July 3 and Wednesday July 4. It will close for the day on Monday July 2.

"Until June 29th, families can purchase a bracelet for $45 a child (for unlimited carnival rides), which is good for entire event," she said. "After June 30 they’re $50."

She noted the Fourth of July parade kicks off at 2:30 p.m., and urged anyone who wants to sponsor the event to  go to mortongrovedays.org.
