Three 19-year-olds were robbed at gunpoint in Winnetka early Saturday morning. Two men from Morton Grove and another from Skokie have been charged in the crime.
Three men were robbed at gunpoint by three other men while walking through the area of Locust St. and Pine St. in Winnetka on Saturday morning, according to a press release from the Winnetka Police Department.
According to the release, one of the offenders displayed a pistol and ordered the victims to give up their wallets and phones. Two of the offenders then ran to a waiting SUV driven by a third offender. A call was immediately placed to the authorities and the Winnetka Police Department, assisted by the Northfield Police Department, found a vehicle matching the description within minutes. All three occupants of the vehicle were arrested and transported to the police department.
After a “lengthy foot search,” a dark-colored pistol was located on the ground near the location of the SUV. The pistol was later identified to be an Air Soft Gun.
Daniel E. Shaver, 39, of Skokie; and Patrick Shane, 20, and Nicholas LaPaglia, 22, both of Morton Grove, are being charged with aggravated robbery, according to Winnetka Police. Their court date is set for Jan. 8, and their bond is set at $50,000 each.

If ALL Illinois residents carried guns, ALL areas would be MUCH safer, because armed robbers would think twice before ever wielding a gun to rob anyone; with fear of being killed by a gun-toting civilian.
