Wonderful to see mothers and children working together and learning how our food is grown. Perhaps Morton Grove's Garden Club could be asked to participate in the program so our hard-working library staff's time won't be needed as much? Also, I do hope all involved will remember that a big part of our village is in Maine Township too and will consider donating produce to them. Our library board must have approved this program or how else could it happen? For them to have asked questions about how it worked and who would be involved is the right thing to do for elected representatives responsible for public property. I sincerely hope Ms. Miller's last comment is not continued sour-grapes from her election loss since we should all now be supporting the library to continue their mission of service to the patrons and residents.

This is an amazing program, my kids and I have been fortunate to partake and learn so much about natural alternatives for gardening problems, how to be part of a community garden and to give back to the public.
There is not enough produce to split to both pantries and Niles Township Food Pantry is just down the street from the library, probably why they are the recipient. If YOU would like to participate in some sort of donation program, as I have suggested before, I am sure the Main Township Food Pantry would appreciate it. In this economy the food pantries could certainly use everyone's help.
I believe Ms. Miller is continuing to watch what is happening at the library as she has done for several decades. There was discussion by the one board member in particular who did not want this garden at all. That is in the DVD recording of the June Board Meeting. Again, Ms. Miller is just reminding us of how the garden began. I do not think she, nor anyone else must support the library board, if they are doing things that we as residents do not approve and are costing tax payers money beyond what is already budgeted for the library or expenses that the tax payers would not approve. We all support the library in its mission to provide education to the public.
