Rash of Perfume Thefts

In three separate incidents, fragrance bottles are stolen. Arrest information is supplied by the Niles Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

 

Omar Kahled, 30, of Park Ridge, was charged with petite theft on Feb. 2 just after 5 p.m. after a security agent for a retail store at Golf Mill Shopping Center said he concealed a bottle of cologne worth $38 in his jacket, then exited the store without paying, according to police. The agent stopped the offender and recovered the item, police said. Police issued a ticket and said Kahled paid the fine on scene.

$45 bottle of perfume stolen

On Feb. 2 at 12:50 p.m., a security agent for a retail store at Golf Mill Shopping Center saw a man in his 30s wearing a gray jacket and jeans take a bottle of ladies' perfume valued at $45, conceal it in his clothing and exit the store, according to police. The agent went to stop the man, but he ran down Milwaukee Avenue and escaped. Police are investigating.

$55 bottle of cologne taken

On Feb. 2 just after 4 p.m., a man in his 30s, wearing a black jacket and black dress pants, selected a bottle of cologne valued at $55 and concealed it under his jacket, according to a security agent at a Golf Mill Shopping Center store and Niles police. The man passed the last point of purchase without paying, police said, and took off running. Attempts to locate him were unsuccessful, police said.
