“For the past two weeks Lisa has called every other day, harassing me and threatening me,” Barbara Shuman detailed in the complaint.
“I fear that her behavior is escalating and I am afraid/terrified that she will show up at my house and hurt me and/or my husband,” she continued.

Just two thoughts... I guess the guy killed at the hotel should have gotten " the up graded room" as he promised her!? As for the women suing the furniture maker ! Perhaps also consider suing the people who owned the land where the trees were grown to make the furniture!? And since EVERBODY sues chicago and gets millions / especially the police for doing their JOBS/ why not sue them as well! Cover all the bases Of course it could not have been the mothers fault. Right!

Your an idiot b Garrett. I don't think you have a clue about the real misconduct that goes on inside the CPD. Maybe you should read some cases before you make such a ridiculous statement. Ever heard of John Burge? Guy Lindsey? Have you ever investigated the allegations citizens have made against the CPD? Did you know that men have actually been put to death who were not guilty of any crime?
Research might help you. Being jealous of monetary awards to individuals you think are not deserving is sad.

As a parent of a child whose dresser fell on top of their child - escaping injury, I cannot even image suing the company who made the furniture - very stupid!

that's what i said in the comments of the original article... nobody is accountable for their actions anymore. there's always SOMEBODY to blame when bad things happen.
our litigating society is sickening.
