Regional Police Report: Sex Offender Robbed Waitress, Family; Prostitution at Dragon Spa Again and More
The following is a selection of police related items from area Patches. Where an arrest is referenced it is only an accusation and does not indicate a conviction.
Cops: Sex Offender Robbed Waitress, Family
A Tennessee convict is ordered held in lieu of $1 million after storming into the Lake View restaurant Cassava Bread Sunday night and robbing a waitress, a Buffalo Grove mother and her two children, the Chicago Tribune reports.
William Castle, 43, was charged with aggravated robbery, unlawful restraint and aggravated kidnapping, police said. He is also on Tennessee’s sexual offender registry for aggravated sexual battery in 2009.
Police say the Buffalo Grove family was eating at the Lake View bakery at 3338 N. Clark St. when Castle busted in around 6:10 p.m., asking the 19-year-old waitress if he could use the bathroom, the Hartford Courant reports. Instead, the man entered the kitchen, grabbed the woman by her collar and said, “Give me all the cash,” according to the police report.
Crystal Lake
Man Charged With 17 Car Burglaries, Theft and Forgery
A Crystal Lake man arrested last month for unlawful use of a credit card and possession of heroin has been charged with 22 additional offenses, most for car burglaries, according to Crystal Lake Police.
Daniel K. White, 27, 1528 Candlewood Dr., was originally arrested on Dec. 19. But on Wednesday the McHenry County State's Attorney approved a long list of additional charges against White, as the result of an ongoing investigation, Crystal Lake Police Cmmdr. Dan Dziewor said in the press release.
Evanston
Purple Line Worker Died Rescuing Woman From Fire
A maintenance manager who worked on the purple line in Evanston died Tuesday after saving an elderly woman from a high-rise fire in Chicago, according to the Chicago Tribune.
John Fasula, 50, had worked for the CTA for 20 years, but was working a part-time job at a 16-story building on the south side of Chicago when a blaze broke out on the seventh story, the Tribune reports. Fasula and another worker in the building, Jameel Johnson, both rescued an elderly woman from the seventh story, then returned to the building with fire extinguishers, the Tribune reports. They died of smoke inhalation.
Grayslake
Hypothermia Cause of Joey Frase Death
The cause of death for Joseph "Joey" Frase of Grayslake, whose body was found the morning of Jan. 22 near Campbell Airport, "is very simple," said Lake County Coroner Thomas Rudd.
"Hypothermia."
Frase, 20, had gone missing from a party in Round Lake's Madrona Village in the early morning hours of Sunday, Jan 20. Volunteers searching in a tree line near the area of Campbell Airport in Round Lake Park discovered his body at about 10:35 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22.
Given the sub-zero wind chills in those overnight hours, and the fact that Frase was wearing a hoodie and not a winter coat, "exposure can take you very fast," said Rudd.
Libertyville
Second Prostitution Bust at Dragon Spa
A second employee from Dragon Spa in Libertyville has been charged with prostitution.
Xiaohong Wu, 41, of 101 Stockton Drive, Grayslake, was charged with one count of prostitution Jan. 18, Libertyville Police Sgt. Dennis Meserve said in a press release.
According to the press release, the Libertyville Police Department received a complaint in early January from a Lake County resident who said he was propositioned while at Dragon Spa, 402 Peterson Road, Libertyville. Meserve said the complaint was investigated and a $25,000 warrant was issued for Wu.

It was the second time William Castle did this. He is a tortured soul. He had been released from 22 years in Prison in September 2012. He wanted to return to prison because he knows how to operate in prison. On the outside it is difficult for people like him... institutionalized.... the outside life requires responsibility... prison gives you three hots and cot and he doesnt have to face his demons...William was out of prison for 128 days and made sure he committed the type of crime he did so he was sure to go to prison for the rest of his life. Kidnapping in Illinois, when it is a second offense and involves a child under 13 has a life sentence attached to it. He knew that... he chose Chicago for a reason. He probably saw the young Rebecca Lane and knew that her age would put him away forever....He took a bus from NYC where he had been given a chance with his extended family... but completely screwed that up... took a bus straight to Chicago... he was there less than a day and committed this crime... he is a suffering addict who is from a terrible and abusive home as a child. He is a study in human abuse. So sad. May he find peace...
I am so sorry for the Lane family and the young waitress -he didnt actually have a gun so she was not in that kind of danger, but she will have to live with the terror of that night for the rest of her life- I hope she knows William would not have hurt her... He was doing the crime so he could go back-he didn't have a gun-he just pretend.

Shawn, This kind of crime can't happen, not in a good neighborhood, with Police, 911 and all that! This is what I hear from the Liberals, that are Anti-Gun and Pro-Sex Offender. Why would anyone, need a Gun, for self defense? Right?

Ex-convicts are such trustworthy people. That's why they go to other states to hide out.

Preventing happy endings at the massage parlor is really good use of limited public resources?? I feel much safer now. I suspect that a teenage boy is looking at porn in Libertyville. Better get on that.
