The casino drew 280,000 people last month, the Journal & Topics newspaper reports.
More than 280,000 people visited Rivers Casino in Des Plaines this January, generating $32,358,000 in gross receipts, the Journal & Topics newspaper reports.
The numbers are slightly down from December, when the casino generated $34,984,000 in gross revenues. The city of Des Plaines will receive $1.9 million in tax dollars from the January revenue, according to the newspaper.

I'm old enough to remember when the politicians sold the lotto and other gambing by saying it would go to pay for our schools. Why are the schools still hurting for money? Could it be we were lied to?
