Teen Beats Another Teen With Metal Pipe

Three teens came to a victim's home and beat him up in his driveway. An arrest is merely an accusation and not evidence of a conviction.

A 16-year-old juvenile and two 17-year-old juveniles were charged with mob action and criminal trespass to land, and the 16-year-old was also charged with battery, after an incident March 2 at a home in the 7700 block of Oleander.

The 18-year-old victim was outside in the backyard snowboarding with three friends, all near his age, when a group of kids started throwing eggs at them from Jonquil Terrace Park, according to the report.

Soon after, the 18-year-old victim/resident heard screaming coming from the front of his house, so he walked out from the backyard toward the driveway, police said. He saw a group of about 10 kids walking up his driveway yelling and screaming.

According to the report, the victim saw Offender A holding a long thin metal pipe, and the victim told the approaching kids to leave his family's property, but they continued, until Offender A pushed the victim and extended the metal pipe, striking the victim in the face, below one eye, with the end of the pipe. The victim's hood was pulled over his head and he grabbed Offender A's clothing and they started grappling.

The victim ended up on the ground, being punched by several of the group who had encroached on the victim's driveway, according to police. The victim's friends, who were still in the back yard, heard noise, came out in to the driveway and started pulling the aggressors off the victim. The fight broke up, with half of the aggressors getting into a vehicle and half taking off on foot southbound on Oleander.

The victim's mother witnessed some of the altercation, according to the report, and also told the trespassing kids to leave her property during the incident, but they did not.

Niles Police Officers located three kids at the corner of Howard Street and Olcott Avenue and the victim positively identified them, including stating that Offender A had been the one to hit him with the metal pipe.

Police placed the suspects in custody, charged them and later released them to their parents.

Police placed the metal pipe and photos of tge victim's injury into evidence.

The court date for the three juveniles is pending.
