Traffic arrest

Police observed a Dodge minivan traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on the 7100 block of Caldwell Ave. July 28, according to a police report. The vehicle radar clocked the vehicle traveling at 53 mph in a 35 mph zone. The driver, Victor M. Arroyo, 25, of Chicago, told police he didn’t have a driver’s license and could not provide proof of insurance.

The vehicle was towed and a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer was placed on the offender after notification from U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Arroyo was bonded on the Niles charges and held until ICE could pick him up.

Retail theft

Police responded to a report of retail theft at a store in the 6100 block of Touhy Ave. July 28, according to a police report. A loss prevention agent for the store observed the offender remove an electric shaver, valued at $79.99, from its packaging and walk out of the store past the last possible point of purchase. The offender, Ginger Sarov, 26, of Glenview, was cited for retail theft, and paid the fine on the scene.

Police observed graffiti on an electrical box owned by the village on the 6100 block of Touhy Ave. July 28, according to a police report. The graffiti was written with a pink marker.

Retail theft

Police were dispatched for a report of retail theft to a store on the 5600 block of Touhy Ave.  July 29, according to a police report. Ramsin R. Baza, 21, of Chicago, and Mariann G. Gabriel, 20, of Chicago, were cited for retail theft after the store manager observed them concealing shirts and walking out of the store past the last point of purchase. Total value of the items was $86.94, and the fines were paid on the scene.

Battery

Police responded to a report of battery at a liquor establishment on the 9600 block of Milwaukee Ave. July 29, according to a police report. When police arrived the offender had already fled the scene. The victims, a 27-year-old male from Hawthorn Woods, and a 23-year-old female from Glenview, were both approached by the offender at which time words were exchanged and a fight took place. The male victim told police the offender hit him in the face. Both victims refused medical attention.
