Documentary Powerhouse Kartemquin Films Releases First Audio Described DVD

Ever got the feeling, as you were flipping through your hundreds of channel selections on cable or Netflix, that there was just nothing good on? For 1 in 30 Americans who are blind or have visual impairments, the choice of media that's accessible is just a fraction of everybody else's.

The award-winning Chicago-based documentary production company Kartemquin Films (The Interrupters, Hoop Dreams) is working to change that by including an audio track to describe details of a scene in their documentaries.

Learn more about, and watch a video example of audio description from this post on the JJ's List Blog at: "Audio Description and Documentary Film".
