Getting Graphic

If you’ve ever thought that Graphic Novels were exclusively for kids and teens, you might be surprised to find out that there is an incredible collection of these wonderfully illustrated works of art for adults.  While most people might think of graphic novels as comic books full of super heroes or zombies, many of them feature in depth plot lines, complex character development, and even romance.

MGPL has over 500 graphic novels to explore.  Take a look at some of our most famous, or most unique, titles!

Girl with the Dragon Tattoo:  Stieg Larsson’s international bestseller was first made into movies in two different languages, and now you can see it in a whole new way.  Adapted into a graphic novel, Denise Mina transforms this mega-hit into an artistic thriller. http://bit.ly/12nQ99Q

Steve Jobs: This visual biography of one of the most well known players in the field of technology will give you an inside look to his life and career. http://bit.ly/14AsqSp

Building Stories: This multi-piece set takes the graphic novel to a whole new level, with 14 pieces ranging from huge broadsheets to tiny pamphlets.  Chris Ware artfully tells the story of a variety of tenants in a Chicago building and shows how lives intersect when you’re not expecting it. http://bit.ly/XGjFC8

The Avengers:  A popular title in graphic novels for years, the Avengers skyrocketed to mainstream popularity after the recent release of the 2012 blockbuster movie hit.  Take a look at how the crime fighting team got started with this novel, containing content from the original run of the Avengers, #1-6.  http://bit.ly/Up7JYX
