Golden-crowned Kinglet on Frontage

With sharp eyes and patience you can discover many birds in Morton Grove, even if you don't venture into the forest preserves. While walking on Frontage Road on Wednesday afternoon, I saw three Golden-crowned Kinglets scurrying from branch to branch in some bushes on a front lawn.

They were looking for insects and spiders to eat in that foliage.

Like juncos, kinglets breed in Canada in the summer and migrate south to the United States in the winter, even to cold weather regions such as the Midwest.
