North Branch Of The Chicago River In Morton Grove After Year's First Snowfall

Not only was Thursday's six inches of snow the first snowfall of the year, it was the first meaningful snowfall of the winter.

As for Morton Grove's forest preserves, the brown and tan hues--save the tree trunks--are enveloped in white.

And icy patches are evident on the North Branch of the Chicago River.

But all of the ice and snow will probably be gone in a few days as unseasonably warm weather is expected to return soon.
