- All of downtown Skokie turns into a concert stage, shopping and dining extravaganza and playground this weekend, from Friday through Sunday. The village will close down Oakton Street to host its massive festival, the Backlot Bash, right on the street. Make plans today.
- Too hot outside? Get in the Christmas spirit at a rehearsal of Handel's Messiah at St. John Brebeuf Church on Harlem Avenue, 7 to 9 p.m. Rehearsals will lead to a performance on Dec. 3. That's what we call planning ahead.
