Want To Be Crime-Proof? Niles Police Tell You How

Police tell you how to avoid being a victim in the program at 2 p.m. Oct. 16. Plus, other things happening in Niles and Morton Grove.



  • The Niles Police Department invites you to participate in the SCRAM program will cover multiple topics of crime prevention. Topics will include Identity Theft, Confidence Scams, Online Scams, Pigeon Drops, Personal Safety, Home Repair Fraud, Driving Safety, Burglary and Ruse Entry Burglary. Attend the program at 2 p.m. today (Oct. 16) at the Niles Senior Center. Members of the police VIPS program will conduct home visits to help crime victims, especially senior citizens. The SCRAM program also has lawn signs, window decals and other visual aids to assist senior citizens when faced with a potential scam or crime in progress. 
  • Confused about health insurance? The Village of Morton Grove is hosting Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky and her staff for a presentation on the Affordable Care Act on Oct. 16 at 5pm at the Civic Center, 6140 Dempster.  From 4pm-5pm, Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) counselors from the North Shore Senior Center will be available to answer insurance questions.  
  • Pumpkin Painting. Teens and tweens, register at the Morton Grove Library for this 6 p.m. program. You'll get to paint your own mini-pumpkin--they provide all the supplies.
