Renegades Really Putting the Travel into Travel Baseball

Niles Renegades Travel Baseball heading to the border to continue playing elite baseball.

The 25th Year of Niles Renegades Travel Baseball is coming to a close. So how do you finish off such a season? For starters, you become the Niles West 14U Tournament Champions.

Last weekend the Renegades braved the heat and rain to capture the win at Niles West. They didn’t sweep the series. Their one narrow loss allowed them a second chance to face the Aces in the championship game. Both teams played well. The outfielders and catchers dazzled the crowd with spectacular diving catches. Hitting ran the range from well placed bunts, in the gap drives and just all out power hits. Smart pitching helped set up double plays and remarkable pick offs.

Having a trophy in hand makes a great ending. The Renegades though weren’t quite finished. For the past 12 years the 13U and 14U teams embarked on a great adventure. This 25th anniversary demanded special recognition. Friday morning the players boarded a bus on route to Canada. They will spend the next several days visiting wonderful attractions such as Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame; Lockport Locks; Niagara Falls and Labatt Memorial Park.

The Renegades are first and foremost a baseball team. Therefore, their trip wouldn’t be complete without lots of baseball. Lockport NY brings an opportunity for another tournament. Once on the other side of the falls, the teams will be able to continue games against Canadian travel teams. Double headers have been arranged to allow for in between barbeques. After all one of the greatest perks of youth sports is the chance to meet others.

Travel baseball will mean so much more to each Renegade player when the bus finally reaches home. These boys will come back with more than just dirty uniforms. They each will have a greater understanding of the game of baseball and greater appreciation for their fellow teammates, competitors and coaches.
