Attention Fellow Veterans and Your Families: Announcing The Road Home Program

Just received this from a fellow American Legion Member. Vets and families - check out this wonderful, fully funded support system for those who served including of course families....

The Road Home Program at The Center for Veterans and Their Families at Rush Medical Center supports veterans who served in recent conflicts such as Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF - Afghanistan) as well as veterans of any past military conflict – from World War II, Korea and Vietnam through Operation Desert Storm. Services include outpatient counseling and support for PTSD, TBI, MST, other service-related mental health conditions.

In addition to caring for the veterans, services include spouses, children, parents and other loved ones.

The Road Home Program provides service to veterans and their families including:
· Outpatient counseling and support for PTSD, TBI, MST, other service-related mental health conditions

· Navigation support and assistance to connect veterans and their families with related services such as emergency assistance, educational and career, housing, and other community services.

· Educational opportunities concerning PTSD and other traumatic conditions for community based providers, employers and others

· Advocacy and outreach to promote and support veteran and family related issues and challenges

The Road Home Program is staffed by professionals well versed in the issues and challenges facing veterans and their families:
· Veteran Outreach Coordinators work to connect veterans to job-training programs and community socialization sites.

· Veterans’ Mental Health Clinic is staffed by psychologists, psychiatrists, licensed clinical social worker and counselors.

· Veteran Family Mental Health Clinic is staffed by psychologists, psychiatrists, licensed clinical social worker and counselors

A real strength is the collaborative work with other veteran support organizations such as:
· VA Health Centers at Hines, Jesse Brown and James Lovell

· Veteran organizations like the VFW, American Legion, Marine Corps League, AmVets, Vietnam Veterans of America, and many others

All care is confidential and payment will not be a barrier to service for veterans and their families.

By law, the Road Home Program is required to bill health insurance, but if a veteran or family member has no insurance or a gap in insurance coverage, they will never receive a bill from Road Home.

This wonderful support of veterans and their families is made possible by funding from the Welcome Back Veterans Foundation, which is supported by:
· Major League Baseball

· McCormick Foundation

· along with funding and support from the Crown Foundation, Michael Reese Trust Fund, Bank of America, Rush University Medical and several other corporate and civic organizations.

We are here to help veterans and their families. Do not hesitate to reach out to us.
