John Jekot Joins St. John Brebeuf as Event Coordinator
A well-known parishioner, civic leader and volunteer, John Jekot, is now the Event Coordinator for St. John Brebeuf (SJB) Parish in Niles. Among other duties, Jekot will be responsible for the scheduling and coordinating of all events in the Father Tom May Ministry Center and throughout the parish. He started in his position on May 19.
He will act as the parish contact for Archdiocesan Agencies and other outside groups that use SJB church and the Ministry Center. In addition, he will act as host by overseeing events on weekends and evenings.
"John's good work speaks for itself so he will be a great asset to our Parish team," says Pastor Michael Meany. "John worked in the same capacity at St. Michael’s in Old Town and after hearing about his good work, I decided that his talents could be put to work right here at SJB, his home parish."
With his supervisory experience with the Forest Preserve District of Cook County, the Lindenhurst Park District and the Niles Park District, he will focus on ensuring a safe and orderly use of the SJB facilities, Meany added.
Jekot also currently serves as Trustee in the Village of Niles. He was on the East Maine School Dist. 63 Board of Education and still serves on its Education Foundation as Vice President.
