GOP Republican Candidate Leaves On African Charity Mission
PARK RIDGE – MaineTownship Republican Committeeman candidate Charlene Foss-Eggemann leaves tomorrow on a 7 day mission to Ghana, Africa. Char is part of an eight-member delegation of Reed Elsevier employees from across the globe selected to serve as corporate charity ambassadors due to their significant charitable contributions. Char is a consulting attorney for the information publisher LexisNexis, which is a subsidiary of international publishing company Reed Elsevier.
"Afrikids is one of the many charitable organizations financed by Reed Elsevier, which is the largest publisher of medical, scientific, legal and business journals and books in the world. Reed Elsevier and its employees have a deep commitment to ending human trafficking and advancing the living and educational conditions in Ghanan communities,” said Char. “Over the next 7 days, some of our best and brightest from around the world will tour and work in the communities which benefit from our fundraising efforts. I was so honored to be invited and look forward to what was described to me as a temporary Peace Corp mission.”
Char also encouraged any Maine Township residents who are interested in donating to visit the website of Afrikids at ".
No matter how many problems we have in Illinois or Cook County, these issues can seem so insignificant when you are working to help people who live on the edge every day. I can’t imagine what it would be like to try to raise my family on $5 a day, worry about a fresh water supply or wonder if my children will remain safe,” said Char. "Helping to lift people into a new standard of living and create self-sustaining communities is one of the best ways I can contribute outside of my own area.”
