Judge Tony Kyriakopoulos Chicago Tribune Endorsement for Circuit Court Judge in the 10th Subcircuit

Judge Tony Kyriakopoulos has received the endorsement of the editorial board at the Chicago Tribune in his bid to retain his seat as a Circuit Court Judge in the 10th Subcircuit.  In its endorsement, the newspaper noted Judge Kyriakopoulos’ almost 20 years in the state’s attorney’s office and his 4 years of experience as a judge as key to its endorsement.  The Chicago Tribune’s endorsement confirms the high ratings Judge Kyriakopoulos received from the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois, the Chicago Bar Association, the Cook County Bar Association, the Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago, the Hellenic Bar Association, the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois and the Decalogue Society of Lawyers, all organizations which rated him higher than his opponent.   

Judge Kyriakopoulos has been endorsed by the Cook County Democratic Party, the Chicago Federation of Labor, the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council and the Indo-American Democratic Organization, and recently received the support of the United Hellenic Voters of America and of the Advocates Society of Polish-American Attorneys. 

A longtime resident of the Tenth Judicial Subcircuit, Judge Tony Kyriakopoulos has served the public for 24 years as both an Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney and as a judge.  He was appointed a full Circuit Cook County Judge of the Tenth Judicial Subcircuit on February 2, 2010.  He presides over 6,400 foreclosure cases each year and has gained a reputation for being compassionate, fair, and for understanding the critical role the courts play in one of the most far-reaching financial crises of our time.  Judge Kyriakopoulos is a graduate of Lane Tech High School, the University of Illinois at Chicago, and The John Marshall Law School.  He lives with his wife and two children in the same neighborhood in which he grew up.
