Public Meeting Announcement
Village of Homewood, December 9; Village of Northbrook, December 11; Village of Westchester, December 12
Niles, Ill. (December 2, 2013) – The Village of Niles is beginning its public outreach efforts to support the development of the Cook County Multi-Jurisdictional All Hazards Mitigation Plan (HMP). Three public information meetings have been scheduled for the week of December 9. All residents of Cook County are invited to attend to learn about a recent study on Cook County’s vulnerability to natural hazards
Each meeting will start with a brief informational presentation. Members of the public will have the opportunity to view maps of the County showing the areas subject to the natural hazards addressed in the HMP. Computer work stations will be available for people to enter their address and access natural hazard data for their property. This will enable them to see how various natural hazards may affect their own homes or businesses. They will also be able to print out the hazard data associated with their property. In addition, several businesses and organizations, such as Walgreens and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), will be on hand to provide information and resources to attendees.
