St. John Brebeuf Open Public Ice Rink

Father Michael Meany, Pastor of St. John Brebeuf in Niles right, welcomes Mario Schittino of Morton Grove to Open House at SJB School.

Schittino brought his two sons, Marcello and Tyler, to see St. John Brebeuf as prospective students. The boys also participated in the “Shoot the Puck” contest and some ice skating time.

The family also got a personal tour of the school by Principal Robert Gawlik.

Gawlike said 16 new families registered to see the school. Many others came to ice skate. The Men’s Club provided hot food, hot chocolate and beverages in a warming station.

The ice rink will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily weather permitting. It will also be lit and open at night on Jan. 31 when Patrick McCaskey of the Chicago Bears visits SJB to tell why a Catholic education was valuable to him and the McCaskey family.
