Town Hall Meeting - A Conversation with Our Teens

Students in the Maine Community Youth Assistance Foundation (MCYAF) Youth Program have been hard at work preparing for next week’s Town Hall Meeting – Keeping Teens Healthy and Safe- A Conversation with Our Teens. State Representative Marty Moylan joins MCYAF to host the March 13th event. This local installment of the national Town Hall Meeting initiative brings together youth and adult community members to talk about ways to encourage kids to make healthy choices not to use alcohol or other drugs, as well as bullying prevention.

Community members from all over Maine Township are encouraged to attend the March 13th meeting at the South Park Field House on 833 Talcott in Park Ridge. The evening will start at 7 pm with interactive educational activities created by Maine Township students in the MCYAF Youth Program. State Representative Moylan will speak about anti-bullying legislation he spearheaded and other efforts to keep youth safe.

The evening will conclude with an open panel discussion featuring MCYAF Youth Program Students, Representative Moylan, Dr. Alicen McGowan, a substance abuse addiction specialist, members of police departments, and community members. “We think it is important that our kids are given an opportunity to directly address parent concerns and questions on the panel. We hope that parents and families in the Maine Township community will attend the Town Hall Meeting to see what these active students have been up to and what role they can play in creating a healthy community” says MCYAF Executive Director Dr. Teri Collins.
