12" Of Snow Fell; Plows Out, Morton Grove Library Closed

Here's a roundup of how the snowfall is affecting the towns.

As of about 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, the snowfall totals were 11.8 inches for Park Ridge and 10.8 inches for Lincolnwood, the closest towns to Morton Grove and Niles reported by the National Weather Service.

Hayley Garard of the Village of Niles said snow plows have been out for the past three days, and no village facilities have been closed. People should try to stay off the street unless they have to drive, she said. She also recommended moving cars from the street onto driveways so that snow plows could plow more effectively.

The Morton Grove Library closed due to the weather. The Niles Library is open, and Director Linda Weiss said the lot was professionally plowed, and library staff is periodically doing further clearing, trying to keep up as more snow falls.
