5 Ways to Donate this Holiday Season

Toys for Tots

This holiday season the Morton Grove Police Department will be participating in the collection of Toys for Tots. Residents can bring new and unwrapped toys to the so they can be distributed to local needy children. 

Toys can be donated in the lobby of the Morton Grove Police Department, now through Dec. 15. For more information about this program, contact Officer Van Der Haegen at 847-470-5200.

Firefighter’s Holiday Food Drive

A holiday food drive is being conducted by the Firefighter’s Association of Morton Grove IAFF Local 2178. Food collected will be distributed to local needy families and cash contributions will be used to purchase gifts for children. Only non-perishable items with expiration dates are accepted. The food drive runs from now until Dec. 14.

The main drop off site is at the , 6250 Lincoln Ave. Contact FF/Paramedic Erik Miller for additional information at 847-470-5226. 

 

Niles Township Food Pantry

The Niles Township Food Pantry is in need of donations for this holiday season. Last November, the food pantry served 1,769 households, which accounted for 4,214 individuals.

To make a donation of cash or food, contact Food Pantry Director Cynthia Carranza at 847-983-0073. Checks should be made out to the Niles Township Food Pantry Foundation.

Hours: Monday – Friday 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

 

Holiday Food Drive for Homebound Seniors

Resurrection Homebound Elderly Program, based out of Morton Grove, is conducting its 11th annual holiday gift drive to provide a little holiday cheer for the seniors who participate in the program. There are three ways to help out these socially isolated seniors this season.

Donate $15-$20 Jewel-Osco or  gift cards. The goal is to collect 55 gift cards, one for each elderly patient. Contact Riley Trimm at Riley.trimm@reshealthcare.org to learn where to ship or bring gift cards.

Be a friendly visitor - Along with the gift should come a friendly visit and a check to make sure the patients are doing well! Would you like to deliver a gift and be the “friendly visitor”?

Become a “Homebound Angel” - To support this program, make a donation online and become a “Homebound Angel”!

 

Wright-Way Animal Rescue Fundraiser

On Saturday, Dec. 17 from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m, the Wright-Way Rescue in Niles will hold a "Home for the Holidays" fundraiser to benefit animals at Wright-Way Rescue.

Fundraising festivities include photos with your pet and family with Santa Claus, gift wrapping and a 10 percent discount in the Wright-Way Rescue Pet Store Boutique on discounted items during the event. Also planned is a holiday concert performed by the All Village Singers Chorus and Composer Pianist Jon Novi.
