Big News: Niles, Morton Grove Patch Merging

Patch will marshal its resources into thorough coverage of both communities.

You’ve been telling us you’d like more coverage of Niles and Morton Grove  – and we’ve heard you. We're happy to announce that we've harnessed our resources to more effectively cover both communities - introducing, starting Wednesday, Niles-Morton Grove Patch!

It makes sense to our readers and our local small business owners to offer coverage that extends into both towns. So much of the information we were offering was of interest to residents of both communities; having it all in one place will make it easier for you to keep up with all the goings-on,without flipping back and forth between sites!

Here are some of the exciting benefits this will bring to both communities:

  • All of the businesses will be part of our extensive community directory, called Patch Places. Business owners will continue to be invited to claim their listings - and readers will have a comprehensive resource for finding every business in Niles and Morton Grove.
  • We already are covering Morton Grove and Niles breaking news, schools and sports. This will allow us to expand that coverage and invite residents of both towns to add their own voices to the discussion through Letters to the Editor, Announcements, Events and photos in our Neighborhood Gallery.
  • We’ll bring you regular coverage of the issues and events close to home. We’ve already started doing that, with coverage of Niles North, Niles West and Maine East High Schools.  Now residents will have more of this kind of coverage.

Pam DeFiglio, a 20-year journalism veteran who started with Patch in July 2010 and launched Niles Patch in September 2010, will take the helm of Niles-Morton Grove Patch. Collin Czarnecki, who has been guest editing in Morton Grove for many months, is moving to a Patch editor position in another suburb.
