Catch Big Band Music and Berries at the Farmers' Market

Come out to fill your shopping bag with fruits, veggies, chocolate, steaks, eggs and more while enjoying the sounds of Highland Park Pops

Farmers Market shoppers will be treated with the sounds of the Highland Park Pops Saturday. The band has been playing big band era jazz for more than three decades. The full, brassy sound can be enjoyed by music lovers of all ages from 10 a.m.  to noon.

Vegetables and fruit are in full harvest here at the farmers’ market. This is the week to stock up on your berries, buy them by the case and freeze for the following months. Benhart Farms is attending the market this week, offering everything you will need for your weekend barbecue including brats, burgers to New York strip steak. In addition to selling grass fed meat, Benhart also carries free range eggs you can buy by the dozen.

Bakers at the market offer fresh coffee cakes, bread, danishes, cookies and more. If your sweet tooth is aching, try “Dipped” chocolate covered pretzels. Their new turtle fudge flavor is one of the best! Morton Grove’s own Super Cup will be on hand with iced and hot coffee and lemonade.

The farmers' market also offers John Bailey Honey in three flavors and an assortment of sizes. Looking for something to marinade or dress your goodies from the market with? Try Annies Olive Oils, carrying a variety of oils, vinegars, and dried spice packets for your steaks, pasta salads and stir fry.

As you fill your grocery list, stop by Laz Cosmetics for natural handmade salves, ointment and sprays for all your skin’s needs. Laz is handmade in Morton Grove, a welcome addition to the market and the local business community.

Don’t forget our unique Alpaca wool vendor, who brings her wool straight from her own alpaca herd on the farm in Illinois. This week you can learn how to spin the wool and buy some to knit at home.
