Get Out: Plan Your Rocking, Romantic, Bird-Watching Weekend

It's time to start getting ready for the weekend.


Hallapalooza Concert
Where/When: Pickwick Theater, 5 S. Prospect, Park Ridge, Thursday May 12. Drop in anytime between 6 and 10 p.m.
Why Go: It features local, student and teacher bands. It’s sponsored by Northridge Prep, a Catholic school for boys in Niles, and is open to the community.
Pricing: $8 adults, $5 students with ID.

Almost, Maine
Where/When: Maine East High School, 2601 W. Dempster, Park Ridge, 7:30 p.m. Friday May 13 and Sat. May 14.
Why Go: See a romantic comedy performed by the Maine East drama department.
Pricing: $6.

Jazz Vespers with Tony Thomas and Friends
Where/When: Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 8450 N. Shermer Road, Niles, Sunday May 15 from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.
Why Go: The pastor, a former musician, knows a lot of great jazz artists.
Pricing: Free will donation.


Where/When: Dempster and Ferris Avenue, Morton Grove, Saturday, May 14 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Why Go: It’s nature. It’s the weekend. There aren’t any computers or wire outlets.
Pricing: Free.

Traveling Tea Cups
Where/When: , 781 Pearson St., Thursday, May 12 1:30 p.m.–2:30 p.m.
Why Go: Enjoy a tea tasting and of course learn about the history of coffee’s rival
Pricing: $3 donation is suggested

Best Styles of Belgium
Where/When: , 767 W. Golf Road Friday, May 13 5 p.m.-7 p.m.
Why Go: Because they have beer. Dozens of beers. And you get to try them all.

Where/When: Harms Woods at 5600 Old Orchard Rd. in Skokie on May 15 from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Why Go: It’s charitable, athletic and supports American Cancer Society.
Pricing: Dependent on fundraising.

Rain Garden 101 Program
Where/When: Wilmette Public Library, Saturday May 14, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Why Go: Learn how to make a rain garden and learn about the environmental benefits of these projects. See how the Village of Wilmette will be using the system.
Price: Free

Architectural House Tour
Where/When: Throughout Wilmette, starting at the Historical Museum,  609 Ridge Road, May 15 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Why Go: Explore four outstanding homes designed by recognized architects between 1890 and 1950.
