Where/When: Maine East High School, 2601 Dempster, Park Ridge, Thursday, May 19, 7-8:30 p.m.
Why Go: Hear marches, overtures, lively original compositions, a fanfare from the Irish tradition, and more from the Maine East bands and Gemini Junior High School bands.

Glide On Down The Yellow Brick Road’ Ice Show
Where/When: Iceland Skate Complex, 8435 Ballard Rd., Niles, Friday, May 20 at 7 p.m., Saturday May 21 at 2 and 7 p.m. and Sunday May 22 at 2 p.m.
Why Go: See skaters of all ages perform.

Al Fresco--LIfe Through Opera-Colored Glasses performance
When/Where: Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 22 at 4 p.m., 306 S. Prospect, Park Ridge.
Why Go: Petite Opera’s original comic operetta follows the adventures of Al Fresco, a first generation Italian-American raised by an opera-loving family. The English lyrics are set to famous music, providing an introduction to opera.
Pricing: $15-$25; free for kids under age 6.
