Halloween activities abound this weekend!



When/Where: Saturday, October 29 at 10 a.m. at 19 Prairie Ave., Park Ridge

Why Go: Join us at the Park Ridge Farmers Market when we say goodbye to the season with a Halloween Party. We will have free pumpkins for the kids to decorate as well as taffy apples for the first 125 children. There will also be trick or treat bags that can be used to collect treats from the vendors and amazing balloon creations by RC Juggles.

Why Go: Get dressed up and join the Morton Grove Park District at the annual Halloween Family Festival. Children ages 3-12 will be able to participate in a variety of Halloween activities including: a hay hunt, haunted mazes, prizes and more. Morton Grove residents may register their children early by calling 847-965-1200. There is a limit of 250 children per party.

Why Go: Dress up in your best costume to watch the Medieval Times 2-hour performance that includes Knights Jousting on horseback, exciting sword fighting and the romance of an 11th century time gone by, while enjoying a four-course dinner.

Why Go: The Morton Grove Historical Society and Morton Grove Park District will be commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War by hosting a presentation at the Morton Grove Historical Museum Educational Center.

Why Go: Donizetti based Lucia di Lammermoor on a popular novel by Sir Walter Scott, and every minute crackles with drama. This, plus the composer’s succession of bravura vocal thrills (including the famous Mad Scene!), make for an experience you’ll remember forever. Plus, Jeffrey Sherman of the Lyric Opera of Chicago presents a profile.

Why Go: Members of the Consumer Affairs Commission will hand out a free trick- or-treat bag, with a treat to children who attend in costume. Children are invited to trick-or-treat at each vendor stand. Donations of non-perishable food items to benefit the Niles Township Food Pantry will be collected at the Consumer Affairs Commission table in the Market.
