Fear City opens this weekend in Morton Grove and more!

When/Where: Oct. 1, at 11 a.m. Morton Grove Library, 6140 Lincoln Ave, Morton Grove, IL.

Why Go: Fresh and dried herbs have been used to season and enhance foods for thousands of years. Learn how to use the herbs from the garden to make a savory herb rub great for everything from tofu to turkey, an herbal-infused oil, and custom tea blend, packaged in real tea bags. You'll take home the items you make in the workshop along with recipes. Limited to 20. Must be age 12 and up.

Fear City
When/Where: Starts Saturday, October 1 from 7 p.m. until midnight at Fear City; 8240 N. Austin Ave, Morton Grove.
Why Go: Are you brave enough to explore 40,000 sq.ft. of pure terror? Find out at Fear City where there will be over 40 live characters roaming around, chilling audio, lighting and video effects. Prepare to get scared!

Why Go: Enjoy a fall afternoon in the park with an arts and craft show, hayride, bonfire and storyteller, pumpkin activities and live music at the park districts third annual Autumnfest. New this year is the Talent Showdown, with a winner to be crowned at Autumnfest. Finalists include father and son singing duo George and Andrew Christopoulos; Roger Shen, a 12-year-old pianist who has performed at Carnegie Hall; and 11-year-old singer Liza Birmbaum. Visitors can vote to choose the winner, who will receive $250 and a trophy. The performances and voting are scheduled from 5-5:20pm.

Mega Movie Pajama Night
When/Where: Friday, September 30 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Maine Park Leisure Center; 2701 W. Sibley, Park Ridge
Why Go: Anyone ages 4 through 9 can throw on their favorite pajamas and come join other kids at the Maine Park Leisure Center on Friday to enjoy games, treats and a movie. Don’t forget to bring a blanket and a pillow!
Pricing: $14 residents, $27 non-residents

Fall Fun Fest and 4 Wheels
When/Where: Sunday, October 2 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Maine Park Leisure Center; 2701 W. Sibley, Park Ridge.
Why Go: Check out the big rigs, fire engines, police cars, construction trucks and much more at the Touch-A-Truck event and Fun Fest. There will also be games, crafts and food!
