Learning is Fun(damental) at Kohl Children's Museum

The Glenview venue offers plenty of hands-on activities for kids.

Finding a gem of a museum in this area for the 8 and under set is child’s play; at the in Glenview, kids can play, interact, create and learn.

This year, Kohl Children’s Museum was named #6 in Parents Magazine’s Top Ten Children’s Museums in the country. There are 16 permanent exhibits, as well as rotating traveling exhibits (the newest, Science + You, is set to debut July 19th and will remain until December). With amenities including an on-site Cosi Cafe, four designated infant areas (adjacent to exhibits), nursing stations and family restrooms – the museum’s popularity is understandable.

The facility is tailored to kids, right down to the bathroom sinks. Here, they can: shop for groceries at a mini-Dominick’s, don white coats and stethoscopes to care for stuffed animal pets at a vet clinic and assemble sub sandwiches at a play Potbelly’s. There are levers to pull, buttons to push, objects to handle and water (lots of it) to splash. It’s all in the name of educational pursuits, like discovering the properties of the physical world.
