Lend a Helping Hand on National Public Lands Day

Volunteers needed this Saturday at Harms Flatwoods in Skokie.

Spring cleaning may be a few seasons away from now, but residents are invited to participate in a different type of sprucing up this weekend.

On Saturday, Sept. 24, Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin, 13th District, and the North Branch Restoration Project will hold a work day to recognize National Public Lands Day. Volunteers are welcome to participate for as long as they wish at Harms Flatwoods from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., located west of the in Skokie.

Work day activities will include cutting and clearing brush, collecting seeds, and picking up trash. Equipment and supplies will be provided, but volunteers are encouraged to bring work gloves if they have them.
