Morton Grove Fireworks Dazzle Spectators

The show went on for about 25 minutes and didn't skimp.

To get to the Morton Grove Fourth of July fireworks display in Harrer Park Monday night, spectators had to circle the neighborhood looking for a parking spot, and some parked a mile or more away.

Seeing the fireworks display made one understand why they did it, though. The show's pace moved from quiet to thunderous, and fireworks of all colors and configurations filled the sky, from near ground level to high into the air.

Spectators thought the show was over when an announcer flipped on the speaker to wish America a happy birthday. Then a blowout finale ensued, leaving crowds streaming out of the park with a happy buzz of comments.
