Our Lady of Ransom Holds $50,000 Raffle
On September 17 Our Lady of Ransom parish will draw the winning tickets in their second annual raffle with a top prize of $50,000.
In one month, Our Lady of Ransom Parish will be drawing the winning tickets for their second annual parish raffle with a top prize of $50,000. With sixteen prizes, including early bird drawings, odds are decent on holding a winning ticket for the September 17 drawing.
“The tickets are $100 each, with a total of only 1,500 tickets sold,” according to Rededa Mittman, co-chair of the raffle.
“There were 2,000 tickets available for last year’s raffle, but this year we decided to limit the number of tickets even further, giving every ticket holder a greater chance of winning.”

Support for parish activities and a shrine to Our Lady of Ransom.
“We are looking to subsidize outreach service trips and retreats for our youth and young adult groups,” according to Fr. Christopher Gustafson, the parish pastor. “They are a great group of 20 to 25 high school age kids who deserve our support.”

“We are also looking to create a shine to Our Lady of Ransom,” said Fr. Gustafson. “In the 51 years that the parish has been here, there has never been an image or Our Lady and it will help us understand our identity as a parish.”
Multiple Prizes
Along with the $50,000 first place prize, the raffle includes a $7,500 second place and a $5,000 third place prize. Five $1,000 and five $500 prizes will also be awarded for a total for $70,000 in prize money.
“In addition to the September 17 prizes there are three ‘early bird’ drawings,” Mittman said. “Each drawing is worth $500, and the next drawing will be held on August 23.”
Oktoberfest Tie-In
After running a Family Fun Fest carnival on the parish grounds for seventeen years, the parish decided that it was time for a change. Our Lady of Ransom parish will hold an Oktoberfest dinner and dance on the evening of September 17 from 7 to 11 P.M. The night will feature a traditional German dinner plus an evening of dancing to a live band.
“There will be a contemporary band providing music for all ages,” according to Fr. Gustafson, “but there may also be an oompah or two.”
Drawing at 9 P.M.
One of the highlights of the night will be the drawing of the winning tickets for the $50,000 raffle at 9 P.M.
“You do not need to attend to win the raffle,” said Mittman, “but if you don’t, you will miss a wonderful family filled evening.”
