Patch Pet of the Week: Bambi

Bambi, the Treeing Walker Coonhound, loves the forest and hunting among the trees. She would feel right at home in our local forest preserves.

This beautiful and unique dog would be a great addition to a family with children and another resident pooch. Bambi comes from a line of dogs named not for walking up trees, but for the man who brought them to this continent in the 1700s. They do like to tree their prey as they bay their disctinctive bark. Not a dog for apartment living, this hound needs a daily dose of outside excercise. Running along the forest preserve path would fit the bill.

Bambi was rescued from a hoarding and abuse case. She was emaciated but is now on the road to recovery and has been fully vetted. This pup is ready for a new home. She is a bit shy after her ordeal but very affectionate. At only 1 year old and with positive training and TLC, she should acclimate to the right family quickly.

To meet and possibly adopt her, please contact Ray at colonelchisholm@sbcglobal.net or 847-639-6801. Her adoption fee of $200 benefits rescued dogs. She is staying at a kennel in Union, Illinois.
