Patch Pet of the Week: Hampton the Bunny

Hampton would like to hop right into your home and heart!

Hampton is a bunny who needs a home.

This one-year-old, 3.5 pound, male, English Spot/Mini-Rex rabbit was found hopping around a local park and brought to the Red Door Animal Shelter. There he was nuetered, given shots and a clean bill of health by veterinarians. As a young bunny, Hampton is very active and enjoys being out of his cage with human companionship.

To adopt Hampton, contact the Red Door Animal Shelter here or call them at 773-764-2242. You may also go to their shelter at 2410 West Lunt Ave. in Chicago. Just as at any animal shelter, you will need to fill out an application and go through an interview process.

Rabbits are a tempting gift for this Easter weekend, but remember they are a 7 to 10 year commitment. For more information about how to raise a house rabbit, check out http://www.hrschicago.org, the Chicago chapter of the national House Rabbit Society.

If raising a live bunny is more of a commitment than your family is ready for, I suggest opting for the chocolate kind.
