Patch Pet of the Week: Wheatie

Would you welcome Wheatie into your home?

This 17-pound, 11-month-old wheaten terrier and poodle mix is a spunky and headstrong pup full of personality!

Being a terrier, he will try to get into trouble whenever possible. A good sense of humor is useful with a dog like this.

"Wheatie" is looking for an experienced owner who would have patience and a consistant training schedule to help him become the perfect member of society that he can be.

Wheatie is housebroken, learning new tricks everyday, and gets along very well with the other dogs at doggie day care where he has been fostered.

None of us are perfect, and Wheatie has a little issue too. He guards his food and believes whatever anyone else is eating may be his too. So he needs an adult-only home where his behavior can be improved.

He loves his crate and that is where he is currently put when he or others in the house are eating.

This is a behavior that can be worked on but will always need some modification.

He is very healthy, neutered, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested, and on preventative. His adoption fee of $250 benefits rescued pets.

My family is involved with Wheaten Terrier rescue and if you are interested in this breed and would like to learn more, you can find it at www.wheatensinneed.org
