PHOTOS: A Little Knight Entertainment Comes To Area

Society for Creative Anachronism members relive the good old days with kids and families at Park Ridge Library's outdoor event.

The evening light of summer's long days gave way to the Dark Ages Wednesday when the Park Ridge Library hosted a lawn event in conjunction with its "A Midsummer Knight's Read" summer reading program.

The recent "A Midsummer Knight's Lawn Event" featured members of the Society for Creative Anachronism, as well as the Baron's Noyse, a musical ensemble, wearing costumes and acting as characters from the Middle Ages.

Children watched wide-eyed as the costumed swordsmen unsheathed their weapons--which they did for display purposes. The many families gathered on the lawn also waited their turns to play games and listened to live music.
