Greek Food Fest, St. John Brebeuf Picnic Make Fun Weekend Events

The Big Greek Food Festival puts Niles on the map, St. John Brebeuf celebrates 60 years with an Olde Fashioned picnic Sunday and do the twist at the concert in Niles' Oak Park Friday.


The Big Greek Food Festival

Friday through Sunday, July 19-21

People come from throughout the Chicago area for this food, lovingly prepared--and all homemade-- by volunteers at St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church, on Caldwell in Niles. There's lamb on a spit, moussaka, shish-ke-babs, other lamb dishes, spanakopita, patitsio and pastries dripping with honey, a band, Greek dancing and kids' activities. Plus wine, beer, ouzo and mixed drinks. 3 p.m. until midnight Saturday and Sunday.

Sunday, July 21, 11 a.m.through afternoon

All are welcome to come and celebrate with a field Mass at 11 a.m., pony rides, a petting zoo, face painting, Bozo Buckets and lots of other games, plus hot dogs, brats, hamburgers and more at Olde Fashioned prices. At. St. Paul Woods, on Oakton Street east of Caldwell Ave.
