Romanians Flock to Niles for Fest

Romanians came from around the United States, and even from Romania, to entertain in Niles this weekend.

The ethnic Romanian community here did not disappoint; they came out in numbers to attend Romanian Fest, held on the grounds of 7777 N. Caldwell Avenue.

There was non-stop entertainment on the main stage, under an enormous tent; a food area featuring mittitei (skinless sausages), langosi (fried dough, either stuffed with cheese, cabbage or potatoes or served plain with powdered sugar), dobosz torte, puff pastry and other ethnic specialties.

Families headed for an enormous tent filled with kids' activities, and other fest-goers relaxed in a lounge area near the music or strolled an area with exhibitors and booths, including those of Romanian businesses and churches.
